Metal Dentures
Metal Dentures are precision made dentures fabricated in cobalt chrome. They are ideal for situations where a stronger denture is needed. They can be attached to remaining natural teeth by discrete metal or tooth coloured clasps making them very stable and retentive.
The advantages are:
1) Stronger than conventional dentures.
2) Generally more stable and retentive.
3) Thinner and more comfortable.
The disadvantages are:
1) It is more difficult to add additional teeth to them or to reline them.
Acrylic Dentures
These are made from just acrylic and can be full or partial dentures. They can be very natural looking. They can be easily added to and are ideal where there is a chance other teeth may need to be removed in the future.
The advantages are:
1) Tend to be a simple design and less expensive.
2) Can have other teeth added easily.
3) Can be relined easily if the gums underneath have changed shape.
Immediate Dentures
Immediate Dentures are made of acrylic and are fitted on the same day that the teeth arte removed. This avoids the need to be left with an embarrassing gap or with difficulty in eating or speaking.
